“Love of wisdom increases your wisdom!”
“And in the heart of each person who had a wise heart I have given wisdom.”(Shemot 31:6)
Rabbi Chayim Shmuelevitz used to say that we learn from this verse that to acquire wisdom a person has to merit acquiring wisdom. What is this wisdom that the Torah is referring to? This wisdom is the heartfelt desire for more wisdom.
We can have a picture of what this desire is from the desire of wicked Haman for honor. He was the second in command to King Ahashverosh and the entire Persian Empire, 127 provinces, bowed down to him, except one person “Mordechai” who refused to bow down to anyone. Haman said that all his honor was as nothing since he was missing one person’s honor.
So too a person who who has a deep love for wisdom feels a strong lack for any wisdom he is missing.
When you have a great love for wisdom,H”S will give you a greater wisdom.
