I’ve always loved this quote and I find that it fits perfectly in this week’s Torah portions of “Vayak’hel-Pekudei”. The Torah is all framed around the importance of a communal life. Nobody should live disconnected from a community. In our preparations for Pesach we should really introspect in this subject. My husband and I had the great fortune to help build the community where we lived. We saw how people flourished in every way. The community helped them deal with life issues in a loving and comforting way, making everyone feel part of a whole. Peoples best part came out. Everyone shined in their own special way. By building a community we built ourselves.
Are you part of a community? What role do you play? How has it impacted you? How have you impacted your community? Good questions to ask ourselves at this time in which we are approaching the holiday of Passover in which we gained our freedom by becoming part of a People.
