It is not a coincidence that Yom Hashoah always falls on the 27th of Nissan and the twelve day of the Omer “Hod shebe Gevurah” (humility within discipline).
The message of today should be taken to heart and we all should live by this motto: “Intolerance and anger are ugly, bravery and courage are beautiful.” (Rabbi Yaacov Heber -Sefiros- pg48)
It is always difficult if not impossible to understand a horror like the Holocaust.
Today we are living through another type of horror in which intolerant and hateful people come into places of worship, schools, etc… and kill innocent people just because.
If we go to the root of this hatred it’s called “Yeshus-haughtiness” this horrible character trait is the root of all evil.
“Hod shebe Gevurah,” teaches us that we must always be vigilant and disciplined in our humility. This is something that must be worked on everyday of our lives. The Talmud says that a person’s evil urge gets stronger every day. It would be impossible to overcome temptation without G-d’s help.
Be an influencer for good and encourage others to make G-d’s presence palpable in our lives.
People kill in the name of G-d, they are so haughty that they think they know more than G-d. One of the Ten Commandments is “you shall not kill.” To be humble is to follow H”S will not our will. If people understood this imagine what a wonderful world this would be.
In memory of the six million holy Neshamas that left this world Al Kidush H”S just for being Jewish and all the martyrs who have lost their lives to senseless acts of hatred.
