In this week’s Parashah “Re’eih” (to see), Moses urges the Jewish people to realize that H”S has given them the choice between good and evil. The result of their lives depends on the way they choose to live and perceive their reality.
“See, I set before you today a blessing and a curse.”(Devarim 11:26)
Everything that we see is either meant to teach us a lesson or it’s an opportunity for us to do something about it. We can live our lives aloof to this or with awareness and understanding. The choice we are given is to want to follow H”S ways or not.
A Divine curse in reality is just a blessing in disguise waiting to be accessed and used for a growth opportunity. Our challenge is to see it in this perspective, rather than falling into the trap of becoming angry with G-d.
Rather than asking “why?” Let’s us ask “what?” What is it that I have to learn and do about this specific situation as hard as it might be. In that way life doesn’t happen TO us, it happens FOR us.
