In this week’s Parasha “Shelach”(Send Forth), the people request to send scouts to investigate the land of Israel before conquering it. Although G-d doesn’t see the need for it, for it shows a lack of faith, He allows them to send twelve princes( one of each tribe) to go in and bring a report.
Moses instructed them to scout out the land and report on its quality and if it could be easily conquered.
Sadly the spies went in, except for Caleb and Joshua, with doubts and the intention to only see the reasons they shouldn’t go in.
They came back with a horrendous report, saying that the land swallowed its inhabitants, had huge fruit, Giants and so on. The Jewish people became terrified and began to cry. G-d said to them “if you cry for no reason I will give you many reasons to cry from now on.
The Jewish people had to wait another 40 years in the desert to be able to enter the land and wait till all this generation died, for their slave mentality didn’t allow them to merit it.
Sadly in our own personal lives we look at our opportunities in a way that we find all the reasons of why it’s not going to work. Highly successful people never think they can’t, they are always looking for the way to do it.
Doubt is our number one deterrent from fulfilling our purpose. Faith is our number one propeller to conquer anything we dream of.
