In this week’s Pa …

In this week’s Parasha “Acharei-Mot” (after) talks about what happened after the death of Aaron’s two sons, Nadav and Avihu, who died because they didn’t want to be part of this world. They only wanted to be close to H”S. The problem here lies in that the two sons didn’t understand that to be close to H”S we have to be part of this world. It is through our Torah study, deeds of kindness towards others and our ethical and holy behavior that we can come the closer to Him.
Today is the 24th day of the Omer with “Tiferet She Be Netzach” (Compassion in Endurance). To have true compassion is to have compassion towards G-d. When we see everyone as H”S children and the world as H”S home we will be able to be much more in tune with reality. For example, why should we keep Shabbat? The simple reason is: because This is H”S will for us. When we do it because we enjoy it, we like eating delicious food, we like to rest, we love spending time with family and friends….. we are really doing it for ourselves. All this is the outcome of the Shabbat experience and it’s great, but the underlying reason and intention should be because we have compassion for H”S and we want to give Him pleasure.
When we are able to rise above ourselves and do the ultimate good, which is what is precious to G-d, then we are BIG.
Also when we connect to Mercy and Compassion and this is our motivator for our actions, then we will be able to arouse H”S Mercy and Compassion towards us. What goes around comes around.
Shabbat Shalom
