In the month of Elul we are given the opportunity to fill our vessels for the year to come. Imagine that you are leaving on a trip to a far away place for a long year and you will need to take everything you’ll need with you. On the month of Tishrei we embark on that year journey, but in this month of Elul we are preparing our luggage for that trip. That is why we increase in our service to H”S this month. We learn more, we pray more and we do more acts of love and kindness. Everything we do causes a cosmic reaction of huge proportions and everything can tip the scale for the better for next year just because we do a little more. Let’s arouse H”S mercy for the coming year by showing Him our efforts of doing a little more.
