In Parashah “Pinc …

In Parashah “Pinchas” G-d tells Moses to: “He rested his hands upon him and directed him…” (Bamidbar 27:23).
Yehoshua merited becoming Moshe Rabbeinu’s successor. The Arizal writes that only two individuals achieved complete and perfect knowledge of the entire Torah; Moshe and Yehoshua. When Moses ascended Mount Sinai, Yehoshua waited patiently for forty days and nights for his Rebbe to return. He was unaware that the nation sinned with the Golden Calf. Despite his incredible credentials, Moses still wanted his sons to be the heirs to the mantle of leadership, but H”S chose Yehoshua to be the next leader.
This teaches us that Yehoshua became the leader of Klal Yisrael because he EARNED it. It was not by virtue of birth. This serves as a tremendous source of encouragement and hope to all those aspiring for a special position. When we work hard and stick to a good role model and learn everything that has to be learned, in the case of Yehoshua he learned the whole Torah from Moses, will eventually see his dream realized.
