In Parasha Vayakhel there is a verse that says:”And the heads of the tribes brought shoham stones, and stones to be set, for the Efod, and for the Breastplate.”(Shemot35:27)
The Prince of each tribe procrastinated in bringing their donations to the Mishkan, their reasoning was that they were waiting to see what the other people gave and they would give everything that was missing. The problem was that the people gave everything that was needed for the construction of the Mishkan. The heads of the tribes got very nervous and asked,”what can we still do?”
The only thing remaining were the special stones that were needed for the Kohen Gadol’s Efod and Breastplate.
Rabbi Yeruchem Leibovitz commented that their original thought appears to have been virtuous. But we learn from here that since their behavior touched on the negative trait of procrastinating they were almost left with no opportunity to help in the construction of the Mishkan.
Whenever you have the opportunity to help at a certain moment in time or do something that needs to be done, DONT WAIT!!!! Get it done immediately because maybe you won’t have another chance.
Whenever you feel lazy to do something, look at the underlying factor that causes this bad habit. Correct the underlying reason for your lack of action. And as Nike’s slogan says:”Just do it.”
