In his book, “Living a Joyous Life,”Rabbi David Aaron posts this question and he gives us a fascinating answer.
There is no such thing as a non believer. Even if you are an atheist there is something you believe in.
What you believe determines what you do and who you become. Your beliefs can either empower you or destroy you. Your beliefs can lead you to tremendous excellence in your life and enable you to build an incredible world for yourself and others, or your beliefs can have the opposite effect.
Belief in G-d is a person’s most powerful belief, but again, like everything in life it has two sides. We have seen people commit horrendous crimes in the name of G-d.
A healthy relationship with G-d comes when we model ourselves after G-d through the 613 Mitzvahs for the Jews and the 7 Nohadite laws for the other nations. When we live in a G-dly manner our sets of believes take a different dimension because instead of living for ourselves and what we think, we will live for H”S and what he wants from us.
So what do you really believe? This is one of the most important questions we should ask ourselves to be able to live our lives to the max.
