“G-d spoke to Moses saying, speak to the children of Israel saying, my Shabbat you shall keep, for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am the Lord who sanctifies you.”(Shemot 31:12,13)
When we keep Shabbat we are letting H”S know that we love Him.
The Alter Rebbe in the Tanya explains that there are two levels of love, there is a lower level of love and a higher level of love.
The lower level of love is “I love you” the love is about the “I”. It’s about how the other makes ME feel. The second level and higher level of love is “You I love,” its all about “YOU.” How I make the other feel, it’s about the other, not about me.
Keeping Shabbat means “You I Love H”S”
It’s about letting H”S know how much He means to us and how much we appreciate His many gifts.
