From the teachings of the Ba’al Shem Tov we learn that H”S primordial thought that preceded all creation was Shabbat. The whole world was created for Shabbat.
It was necessary to restrain the light of the spiritual origin of Creation, because as long as G-d was occupied in the original act of Creation,by contracting and condensing His energy to create a course material existence, His original and pristine light had to be withhold. Once the process of creating the world in six days was completed, the universe was now supported by spiritual vitality that was so limited that was unable to survive on its own.
At that point G-d unleashed radiance from His concealed origin of Creation in the Primordial Thought illuminating all of Creation.
This is the significance of our Sages statement that after the six days of Creation ended, the world was lacking “Menucha” (tranquility); it was lacking G-d Himself, who is referred as “Menucha” in the sense of His being stationary, unlike the movement that characterizes all creation. Our sages conclude, “When Shabbat arrives, “Menucha” arrived,” referring to H”S radiance from His Primordial Thought.
Shabbat Shalom❤️
