Continuing with the Parashah of “Mishpatim” where we are given the laws to live in a civilized society, HONESTY sums it all up. Right after G-d gave the Torah to the Jewish people at Mount Sinai He taught us the laws that teach us how to do the right thing when we are dealing with our mundane life (work, workers, spouses, partners, etc…) why did G-d give us these rational laws before giving us the supra rational (Chukim) ones? Because it is in this world, yes down here, that we forge our deepest connection to G-d. When we don’t abuse others by stealing or taking advantage of them we are creating an eternal bond with The Creator. Honesty makes us descent and refined. What good is it to pray all day and keep the spiritual side of life if we hurt others? “The one that loves G-d loves his children”. At the end everything is about Him, if we cheat on someone we are really cheating H”S.
