As we traverse from Awe to Joy, we should be aware that when we go up one step in the ladder another step is waiting for us.
When the Tzemak Tzedek (third Chabad Rebbe) was a child he was playing on a ladder with other children. All the other children would go up half way and then would come down. He was the only one that went all the way up. His grandfather,Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liadi, who’s saw him asked him: “how come you were not afraid to go up that long ladder? The answer was:”it’s simple, I never looked down, I just kept looking up.”
Always looking up to our goals in life will motivate us to keep going. If we look down, we will be plagued by fears and doubts.
As the prophet Isaiah says:” Raise your eyes on high and behold Who has created these things.”(Isaiah 40:26)
Through the month of Tishrei with all our special holidays we acquire the tools we need for the entire year. On Sukkot we acquire JOY and UNITY two very important tools to reach our goals successfully.
