“And you shall make Holy garments for Aharon your brother for honor and beauty.”(Shemot 28:2)
In Parasha Tetzaveh we get a very detailed description of the garments of Aharon HaKohen, the High Priest.
Why would the Torah be so specific and detailed about clothes? Everything we learn in the Torah not only applies to that time and people in particular, but it also applies to us simple human beings living in 2018. Just as the Kohen Gadol has to dress in a special and beautiful way, befitting to his mission in life, we too need to dress in a way that bring honor and beauty to our own personal mission in life.
We could think that clothes are very superficial, and although they don’t define who we are, for we can always change the garb, the way we dress does have an effect on the way we behave and relate to the world. In a spiritual sense we also have garments of the soul, which are: thought, speech and action. We can always change the way we think, speak, and act.
What is important here is that we should dress in a way that reveals our inner essence, our G-dly soul, our true self!
One thing is for sure, if we dress in a way that brings honor and beauty, not only to those around us, but most importantly to ourselves, it will be much easier for us to live in a true way as the Princes and Princesses of the King .
