“And in the heart …

“And in the heart of each person who had a wise heart, I have given wisdom” (Shemot 31:6).
We also learn in Parashah “Ki Tisa” that H”S takes us in the way we want to go. Rabbi Chayim Shmulevitz used to say that we see from here that a person needs wisdom to merit acquiring wisdom. What is this wisdom? It is the heartfelt DESIRE for more wisdom. Our RATZON (will) is what drives us.
We have to look deep inside of us and make an accounting of our desires because this is what motivates us and takes us to where we are. We have to work on rectifying our wants to desiring what H”S intended for us.
A person who has a deep love for wisdom feels a strong lack for any wisdom he is missing. When you have this deep love for wisdom, H”S will give you greater wisdom. This goes too with anything we desire, so as the saying says: “be careful with what you want because you might get it.”
