“And Aharon shall car …

“And Aharon shall carry the judgement of the children of Israel in his heart.”(Shemot28:30)
This verse teaches us that we have to be very careful when judging a situation.
Rabbi Aharon Levine author of Hadrash Vehaiyun, used to say:”when a judge has to render a decision in a quarrel between two people, he cannot rely on the feelings of his heart. Following one’s feelings can distort justice. When a wealthy person and a poor person are involved in a financial quarrel, naturally one’s feelings feel more for the poor person. But it is possible that the wealthy person is right and justice is on his side. So when it says:”Aharon shall carry judgement of the children of Israel ON his heart,” it means above the heart.”
While the attributes of compassion and mercy are very important to acquire, they are not always appropriate. Just because you feel sorry for a person it doesn’t mean you can unlawfully cause another person a loss.
