An essential component …

An essential component of preparation for the joy of Sukkot is building a Sukkah- a hut with a roof of palm fonds, bamboo, branches, or reeds. It must have three walls.
The Sukkah is known as the hug of G-d. The Mitzvah of the Sukkah is fulfilled by sitting inside and enjoy by eating, reading, resting, etc…
There is a story of a wealthy man who came to visit a great sage and was shocked to see that he lived in a shack with almost no furniture.
The wealthy man offered to furnish his humble home, but the sage in reply asked the man to describe his home. Of course the man lived in a luxurious mansion. Then he asked him to describe his accommodations while he traveled. When the man finished describing the accommodations while traveling, the sage said:” I see your accommodations while traveling are more modest than the ones you have at home. It’s the same with me. Someday you’ll come to my true home and you will see how completely different it is.”
What we believe is our permanent abode, in reality is just temporary, as beautiful as it might be, it’s really not our true home.
Shabbat Shalom
