This week we read the T …

This week we read the Torah Portion of Shlach, when 12 Princes one of each tribe go to spy the Land of Israel before settling in it. It is one of the saddest stories of our history. H”S had been doing miracles for the Jews since taking them out of Egypt, had split the Sea of Reeds for them. In the dessert they had the protection of the Clouds of Glory, Mana fell from the sky so they could eat and Miriam’s well provided them with fresh water.
When they went to scout the land, their intention was to see only the bad because they didn’t want to have to live in a material world. Having to work and take care of the mundane, they wanted to keep leaving a spiritual existence ruled by miracles and not a physical existence ruled by nature. They didn’t understand that in the second option G-d is also present, the difference is that he is hiding so we can have free will and earn merit in this world, we just have to tap into that reality and see H”S in our every day life.
The spies came back with a slanderous report and because of that the Jews didn’t merit to enter the land at that moment, they had to wonder in the dessert for forty years till that whole generation died and then their children where able to enter.
In our daily lives, let’s try to see everything with kind and good eyes and in that way we will merit to see only the kindness and goodness of our creator.
Shabbat Shalom
