Our American Constitution says that we have the right to pursue happiness. What this means is that happiness is something that comes from something external. Rabbi Shloma Majeski, in his book “The Chassidic Approach to Joy”, explains that happiness is not something that we pursue, but rather Happiness is something that we ensue. Joy doesn’t come from an external source, it comes from an internal force. When we live a life based on gratitude, kindness, selflessness and appreciation of the greatness of having an opportunity to be here and being able to have a positive effect in this world there is no space for sadness only true happiness
