“Elul is called the Month of Teshuvah. Teshuvah means return. When we return to our Divine essence we return all of existence to its appropriate place.”
(Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liadi)
Elul is about knowing where we are going. Every successful journey needs a clear and defined destination. Geulah(Refemption) is the destination. All our Torah study, prayers, mitzvot and acts of loving kindness, which are infused with a refined spirit of Teshuvah(return), come to fruition when we know where we are going and what our mission and purpose is. We have to know at every moment that all our efforts and deeds are leading us somewhere.
May we be able this coming year to live with the awareness that everything we do has immense power to take us closer to our purpose.
