When G-d asked the Jews …

When G-d asked the Jews to give a “Terumah” an “Offering” for the building of the Tabernacle in the desert, He didn’t ask them to give a specific quota He said “Speak to the children of Israel, and have them take for Me an offering; from every person whose heart inspires him to generosity, you shall take My offering.”(25:2)
G-d wanted the offerings for the Tabernacle to come from the heart. Each person feels different, some people are more generous than others by nature, so for them it’s easy to give and they have to make no effort. For others it doesn’t come so easy and they have to go against their nature. Either way giving is giving and the outcome of our giving is always good. What G-d wanted was that they give with their hearts. For those that it didn’t come so easy had to break barriers to give, for those that came easily their hearts complied.
