In this week’s Parasha “Ki Tisa” (when you take the sum). The Jewish people did a very big boboo . They made a golden calf to worship because Moses hadn’t come down from the mountain with the tablets. They became so desperate that the satan even showed them an image of Moses dead. That is when they made the golden calf and started worshipping it. When Moses came down the mountain and saw what was happening he threw the tablets in the ground and broke them. There is a parable that can explain this situation better,” there was a King that was going to marry a girl from another country. He sent his assistant to the other country so the girl would sign the marriage contract, when the assistant got there he saw that the bride to be had been unfaithful to the king, so he broke the contract so she wouldn’t be punished.” By G-d giving us the Torah we were signing a marriage contract with him, the Luchot (Tablets) represent the marriage contract (Ketubah). Before Moses could bring them down he decided to break them so the Jewish people wouldn’t be punished by death for being unfaithful to G-d. This was the biggest gift Moses did for us, he gave us the opportunity to do Teshuvah and return to our essence. We were broken, but we were able to put our pieces together and become even more precious to G-d.
