Shavuah Tov!!!! Wishing everyone a very joyous week full of fun, friendship, giving and partying. This week we celebrate Purim by giving food to the poor, mishloat manot (gifts to our friends) and we listen to the Megillah to remember what was done to us and how H”S saved our lives by divine intervention. It is a mitzvah for every person to give the amount for two poor people so they can have a meal for seuda Purim( this can be given to your Rabbi). Also each person has to give two gifts (if your a man you give to two men and if you are a woman you give to two women) called mishloat manot. There should be at least two different foods so two different blessings can be done. And finally every Jew should go on Wednesday night and Thursday during the day ( should be listened twice) to listen the Megillah from beginning to end( check the times at your local Synagogue) In the afternoon on Thursday it is customary to have a sit down meal and wash for bread. People usually put on costumes and are very jolly. The whole idea of Purim is to never forget that G-d runs the world at every instant, even if we can’t see or understand what is going on we should always know that nothing is random and there is a plan. The giving of mishloat manot and food for the poor is because when we are busy giving to others and fostering Ahavat Israel “Love for another Jew” H”S is always going to take care of us. So get busy this week preparing your mishloat manot, getting your costumes, feeding the poor and getting into a joyous mood.
Happy Purim
