“A permanent fire shall remain aflame on the Altar, it shall not be extinguished”(6:6)
This week’s Torah portion Tzav “Command”, refers to how G-d instructs Moses to command the priests how to perform the rites of ascent-offerings after they have been placed on the Altar.
“A permanent fire shall remain aflame..” Even when the Jews were traveling in the desert the flame must continued burning.
Sometimes when we travel we become more lenient in observance (kashrut, Shabbat, Tzniut ( modesty), etc…
What this Pasuk is. Saying is that our inner fire should never be extinguished. Even if we travel, the more so, we should continue being passionate of who we are and bring light onto the nations.
The Torah alluded to this when it commands us to sustain the fire on the Mizbayach (altar of the heart), the altar of man’s spiritual consciousness, the flame- the fire of ones passion and commitment should always burn brightly, even when we travel and it becomes more difficult for us.
