I love this quote!!!!! So wise, if we are able to live our lives thinking like this for sure we are “living a little higher” .
In Parasha Shemini, the two sons of Aharon HaKohen, Nadav and Avihu, die while offering a strange fire to G-d while being intoxicated with wine. They died because their desire for spirituality was unbalanced, they only wanted to be attached to G-d. In the world there are two energies “Ratzo Veshov” one goes in and the other goes out. Everything in the world goes by these two energies. Our heart takes blood in and pumps it out, we breathe in and out, the ocean tide goes in and out, etc… They just wanted to be close to G-d and didn’t want a bodily existence, but G-d wants from us to bring our spiritual inspiration into our mundane lives.
When Moses told Aharon that his sons had expired “Aharon was silent”(10:3). Aharon never questioned G-d, he understood this was part of his journey. G-d didn’t do it to him, He did it for him.
