Thank G-d today the Ame …

Thank G-d today the American people get to choose their next president. I don’t like to talk about politics in this space, but how can I not give the Torah perspective on this matter.
This week’s Torah Portion “Lech Lecha”, speaks of the journey our forefather Abraham took from his father’s home in Charam, a most hateful place, to the promised Land. This is really everyone’s journey throughout their lifetime; it is a journey of refinement leaving our negative desires, habits, bad influences, our insecurities and fears until we reach our inner Promised Land of transcendence and unity.
Who ever wins is already predestined by G-d, but our actions and attitudes are in our hands.
The Lubavitcher Rebbe once told Mayor David Dinkins this:” in the near future, the melting pot of America will be so active that it will not be necessary to underline every time( when speaking of others) ‘they are black,’ ‘they are white,’ ‘they are Hispanic,’ etc… because in reality they are not different. All of them are created by the same G-d, and for the same purpose, to add all good things around them.”
So let’s pave our lives with acts of lovingkindness, which is what really makes us GREAT.
