When Jacob came “ …

By June 7, 2019 No Comments

When Jacob came “to the place” (according to Rashi this place was non other than Mount Moriah) the sun set,he prepared himself to go to sleep and he put stones around his head. According to Chassidut, Jacob put the stones to protect his head from wild animals. The question is “Why only the head? What happened to the rest of the body?” The answer is that he was protecting his head from his animal soul. He was guarding his mind so wild thoughts wouldn’t enter it. When a person is alone and has so much time for himself, at this time he has to be very careful of what he contemplates, for as the Alter Rebbe says “you can only fall into sin when a spirit of folly enters you.”
We have the power to choose what we let enter into our most sacred space, choose wisely. Guard what you see, hear, read, etc..
