In this week’s Parasha “Vayeitzei” (He left), Our forefather Jacob gives us an insight into prayer. It says: “Jacob made a vow, saying, if G-d is with me, and protects me on the way I am going and GIVES ME FOOD TO EAT and CLOTHES TO WEAR,….” (Genesis 28:20)
When Jacob is praying he is not only asking for food and clothes (his basic necessities) if you read closely at the pasuk you will see that he even gives the reason for his need.
INTENTION is everything, what good is food if you can’t eat it? There are so many with their fridges full of food B”H but some can’t even eat it because they suffer from a malady and some have their closets full of beautiful clothes but they can’t wear them.
When praying for our needs we need to make sure to make complete prayers. Don’t only ask for your needs but also ask to be able to enjoy them with the right intention.
G-d loves our prayers don’t feel bad by asking, He really wants us to ask for all our needs. When we do this we consciously know where everything comes from.
