In the Hayom Yom ( teaching of the day )of today it says “The Alter Rebbe told his son the Mitteler Rebbe: Grandfather (the Baal Shem Tov) said that one must have mesirat nefesh (total self sacrifice and dedication) regarding Ahavat Yisrael (love of one’s fellow), even towards a Jew whom one has never seen.”
Real Emunah (faith and trust in G-d) is knowing that all the attributes and possession one possess come from H”S. When we internalize this concept it becomes easier for us to really come to love another and appreciate them.
When we are able to do this then we should be happy for others happiness and good that comes to them. This comes easy when things are going good for us too, but when we are struggling and suffering this can become a challenge.
If we truly are happy for others blessings no matter our situation we will be able to open the vessel for our own blessings to be able to come to us.
May we always feel that the others joy is our joy and in that way H”S will send us bounty of revealed goodness to us too.
Although this is a very high level in our spiritual Avodah (work), with the right mindset it can be achieved.
