In this week’s Parashah Terumah (contribution), G-d asks Moses to tell the Jewish people to build the Mishkan (Tabernacle) in the desert. This Mishkan was a huge structure that could be put together and apart and it would accompany the Jews through their 40 year sojourn in the desert.
If you look closely, the wording of this verse is very strange, it should of said “Make for Me a sanctuary and I shall dwell in it” instead it says “and I shall dwell in you.”
What H”S is telling us is that each one of us is a microcosmo of the actual Mishkan. Every component of the Tabernacle; the arch, Holy of Holies, the candelabra, the show bread table, tapestries, sockets, beams, etc… everything is represented inside our bodies.
Our body is the temple in which our soul resides, when we live with respect towards the body by feeding it, both spiritually and physically and nourishing our inherent holiness with a godly life in thought, speech, and action the presence of G-d resides inside.
This painting, which I painted many years ago, shows an hourglass held by a hand. If you look closely inside the hourglass the Third Beit Hamikdash (Third Temple) is inside. The painting says “time is in your hands.” It is up to us to bring the Third and Final Temple down, we should use our time wisely and not waste it away. The Second Temple was destroyed because of baseless hatred. If you look closely inside the hourglass there are some hearts in the lights. It will be through our baseless love that we will be able to bring the Third Temple. Love for our fellow man, love for G-d, love for Torah, love for the Land of Israel, love for life, love, love and more love ❤️.
