Today we count the third day of the Omer “Tiferet She be Chesed” (Compassion in Kindness).
Can we make a difference in the world? Today we should contemplate in the thought that our job is not to judge G-d and the way He runs the world. Our job is to do the best we can with what we have and realize that the results are in H”S hands.
Although we can’t save the world we should live as if we could, by doing Tikun Olam(perfecting the world) around us.
Everything positive we do has an eternal reward.
There is a story told of Chanah, the wife of the Vilna Gaon, who used to collect money with her friend for poor brides every week. As they grew older the friends promised each other that whoever died first would come back to tell the other how was it in heaven. The friend died first and shortly after she appeared to Chanah in a dream and said: “remember the time we went to visit a certain philanthropist and just as we arrived we spotted him leaving in his carriage? You raised your hand to call his attention, but he didn’t see you and you were so discouraged. Here in heaven the effort you made bears eternal reward.”
That is H”S compassion in kindness towards us, let’s try emulating Him in the same way.
