This week we begin work …

This week we begin working in our ” Gevurah” (Discipline/Restrain).
Today we count the Eighth day of the Omer with “Chesed She be Gevurah” (Kindness within Discipline”.
The Mishna tells us that a “gibor” is someone who controls his natural inclinations. Gevurah is also known as “Din” (judgement). This characteristic allows us to keep away from trouble. This is the strength within us that tells us “don’t do that!” Gevurah is represented by the second day of creation when G-d divided the upper and lower waters, and the creation of boundaries between water and dry land. It is also represented by our left arm; this is why men put tefillim on the left arm.
“Chesed Shebe Gevurah” is the attribute of the sweetening of this discipline. It is the love in discipline. When we recognize that our strength, judgement, and discipline should only be used with love for the benefit of the other or even ourselves. When we act with in this combination, our purpose when disciplining others will only be to help them be the best they can be and not for an egotistical motive.
Try to think before you judge! Do I do it because I really care about the other or do I do it to raise myself up by lowering someone else?
