Today we begin week 5 of the Omer with Day 29 “Chesed She Be Hod” (Kindness in Humility).
Someone once said “the difference between pretty and beautiful is that pretty is temporal whereas beautiful is eternal.” Hod means humility which is the ultimate beauty. Politeness and manners are “Hod” qualities because regardless what your feeling you have the capacity to have regard to the outside world.
Today we also celebrate Pesach Sheini, the time when those people who were impure couldn’t partake of the Pesach sacrifice. On the 14th of Iyar, one month after Pesach, H”S gave them a second chance to bring the Pesach sacrifice.
“Chesed” reaches out. “Hod” is the outside. Today H”S wants us to know that He is waiting for us, no matter what we’ve done or where we are spiritually we can always come to Him.
It is written in the Zohar(Vayikra 152b): “Whoever has not received the illumination of Pesach can do so now, on the 14th of Iyar, for seven days and the Heavens will open up before you. After that they will close again…”
Take advantage of the day and eat some Matzah and ask for all your needs.
Also give some tzedakah and go and help someone in need.
“If H”S always give us a second chance so should we.”
