This beautiful caption has gone viral and maybe many of you have seen it already. This happened in a recent flight from Europe to the USA in which a Chabad emissary, Rochel Groner from Charlotte,N.C encountered an autistic child who became very agitated and started to cry putting everyone in the plane on edge, except Rochel. An experienced caregiver who runs a Friendship Circle (organization that pairs teens with a special friend) with her husband Rabbi Bentzi Groner. She went up to the overwhelmed parents and introduced herself extending her hand to the child who immediately reached out and took it. Together they walked to the bulkhead of the plane and she soothed and played with him for hours.
We don’t need to be super heroes to save the day, we just need to have love,compassion and empathy in our hearts to make a difference in someone’s life.
The Baal Shem Tov teaches that if we are put in a situation it is not so we can complain and become uncomfortable and frustrated, that situation is intended so we can step up to the plate and make a difference. This is a perfect example of living a little higher.
