This Shabbat is known as “Shabbat Chazon” (Shabbat of Vision), which is the Shabbat before Tisha B’Av (9th of Av and saddest day in the Jewish Calendar).
Chazon means “Vision” and the Haftorah of the week begins “vision of Isaiah…”
Rabbi Levi Yitzhchak of Berditchev tells a beautiful parable of a wild little boy who’s father made for him a beautiful suit but the child ruined it, then the father made a second suit, but this one he also ruined. The father made a third suit, but this time he hanged it in the closet and would show it to the son once a year and would tell him that the suit was waiting for him to be ready to wear it without damaging it.
Like the little boy, we were reckless and because of our many sins the first and second Temples were destroyed.
On this Shabbat H”S shows us a vision of The Third Temple, which is waiting for us to live a life in accordance with the Torah values and at that moment it will be ours. And this time it will last forever.
Shabbat Shalom
