This week, the week of …

This week, the week of Parasha “Lech Lecha” all over the world millions of Jews will be experiencing Shabbat, some for the first time in their lives. This incredible endeavor began with a dream that one man had in South Africa in 2013. Chief Rabbi Dr. Warren Goldstein, an Abraham of our time, wanted to share the beauty of Shabbat with as many Jews as possible. He began in South Africa in 2013 and today almost all over the world Jews will be keeping Shabbat in a way never seen before.
“The approach is predicated in the idea that the real energy of Shabbat -its transformative power- is wholly dependent on immersing oneself in the full Shabbat experience.”
The idea of the Shabbat Project is “Keeping it together,” which encapsulates the twin ideals of the initiative which is: UNITY and WELLBEING.
“Keeping it together” means in other words “Keeping our lives together,” explains the Chief Rabbi of South Africa.
Shabbat enables us to momentarily suspend ourselves from the distractions of daily life, offering a time and space to renew our inner selves and to reinvigorate our relationship with G-d.
I hope that you all try to keep this one Shabbat to the fullest, hopefully in good company, and become part of this incredible worldwide experience. You can always check which communities are being part of it in your city and join them.
Shabbat Shalom
