Today, the 11 of Cheshv …

Today, the 11 of Cheshvan, is our Ima Rachel’s Yahrzeit .
“Rachel is the spiritual matriarch of the Jewish people who are scattered throughout the world. Rachel personifies the cry for the spiritual and physical return of all Jews. Rachel is she who refuses to be comforted until the ingathering of her children is realized.”(Jeremiah 31:14)
For the Jewish people, our matriarch Rachel, Jacob’s beloved wife, represents the innate power of the soul and it’s conscious devotion to arouse G-d’s mercy to redeem His children from this bitter exile and bring them to the promised land. She has never stopped crying and praying for us.
Today is known as the Jewish Mothers Day. On the same day of her death she gave birth to her second son Benjamin, at the same time it is in the Land of Benjamin that the two first Temples stood and the Third and final one will be rebuilt.
Each tear of our mother Rachel nurtures in our, her children’s, consciousness the sense of “smallness.”
Till today, Rachel is still nurturing our conscience from within, and her tears wash our souls from without. Each tear corresponds to a state of smallness in which we experience our innate smallness in regard to the infinite Almighty and second in being able to recognize how far we still are from H”S. The farther away we are the smaller our perception.
