One of the Mitzvahs of the most joyous day of the year is to LISTEN to every word in the Megillah twice. Why???? What is so important that we can’t read it?
Our sages teach that the Megillah of Esther is an analogy of the journey of the soul.
People fall in life and make the wrong choices, not because they want but because they forget what is their whole purpose in this life.
Esther our heroin comes to remind us why we are here and what is the purpose of life.
The Jewish people had been given a horrific decree, in the story there is a wicked man, Haman, who tries to destroy the Jewish people. But at the end the Jews do Teshuvah and they remember why they are here and what is expected from them. Although the name of G-d is nowhere to be seen in the whole Megillah it is obvious to see His Divine intervention in everything that happens.
H”S really wants us to want Him. Not because we are obliged to do it but because we really want Him.
At the end all darkness was transformed to light and the Jews had happiness and glory they had never had before.
When we recognize our Creator and live up to His will because we want to fulfill His purpose then just like in the days of Esther and Mordechai we will also be able to turn around everything and transform the darkness into light.
