When a person brings a female kid of the goats for a sin-offering, the Torah states:”And the priest shall make atonement for him and he shall be forgiven.”(Vayikra 4:31)
The Talmud (Sotah 32b) states that when a person brings a female kid of the goats he causes himself embarrassment. Everyone who sees this offering realizes that he is bringing it for his sin. This is unlike the lamb offering which can be offered for other purposes.
The wording of the above verse doesn’t mention that he will be forgiven FOR HIS SIN. It only says that he will be forgiven.
When it makes reference to the lamb offering in verse 35 it does say he will be forgiven for “his sin.”
The Netziv notes that when a person brings a female kid from the goats he is accepting embarrassment over his transgression, although he could bring the Lamb offering without being embarrassed because people don’t need to realize he transgressed.
We learn from here that a person that feels embarrassed after doing something wrong is forgiven for all his transgressions.
Embarrassment is a positive feeling. It shows the person has a strong sense of values. This feeling can be a very fruitful suffering because it allows the person to correct his mistakes, whereas a person who doesn’t feel remorse or bad about his misbehavior will not be motivated to correct his bad character traits.
When we turn around the embarrassment into positive action and change it will generate positive feelings of success.
