Today we count the ninth day of the Omer with “Gevura Shebe Gevura” (Discipline within Discipline).
This combination of restraint with more restraint is something that H”S has given us to keep us away from trouble. Sometimes we have to use an extra dose of rigidity to not bend to things, people or situations that might harm us.
Also it is what has kept the Jewish people and their faith going for thousands of years.
Sometimes saying NO is the only option to not loose ourselves into a confusing world that wants to pull us into the opposite direction.
