One of the things we have to keep in mind when battling our Yetzer Hara (evil inclination) is to learn to call things for what they are. But to be able to do this we first need to learn Torah so we can know what is right and what is wrong.
For example, it is very important to learn Halacha (code of Jewish Law) concerning business laws, what is stealing and what is not, lashon hara (evil speech), hurting others with words (Onaas Devarim), etc..
You would be amazed to know how subtle all this transgressions are.
For example, if you go into a store and you have no intention whatsoever to buy anything, and you ask the sales person to take out every watch there is. You are stealing! You are stealing that person’s time and that is very grave. If you know this, then next time you want to try a watch, you should be honest and say that you are just looking.
Learning Torah and being a learned person is and indispensable weapon to vanquish the Yetzer Hara. The Torah prevents us from wallowing in our base nature. Even more, the wisdom of the Torah fills the empty space with what is holy and sublime, so there will be no space left for the Yetzer Hara to infiltrate.
