In battling your yetzer …

By June 7, 2019 No Comments

In battling your yetzer hara (evil inclination) repeatedly ask yourself:”What is my target?” A soldier could be given a state of the art weapon, but if he doesn’t know how to properly aim it, he won’t hit the target.
Just as you have personal and profesional goals, make sure you also have spiritual goals.
Cultivate in yourself the desire to do kindness and to let the Chesed you do become you.
There is a story of a very evil man who wanted to marry a very good and beautiful girl. Obviously she rejected him every time he tried to approach her. One day he went to get a mask done for his face with kind features. This man she liked and married him oblivious to who he really was. Many years went by and the man lived up to his face and they had a very happy life together. Once a man that knew him from before came to town and told his wife who her husband really was and that he was a fake. When he tried to take the mask off his face the mask wouldn’t come out, it was part of him. He had become that kind face.
Our actions determine if we are good or not, even if we do the kind thing when we don’t feel it, eventually that will become our nature. So do as the sayings says “fake it till you make it,” and you’ll se how one day you won’t be faking anything anymore.
