Shavuah Tov!!! Wishing everyone a blessed week
In Parasha “Lech Lecha” the opening verse says: “The Eternal said to Abram, go from your land, and from your birthplace, and from your father’s house, to the land I will show you.”(Bereshit 12:1)
H”S asked Avram at that moment in life, basically, to leave his comfort zone (for his own good) and go to the place He would show him.
Abraham settled in the land of Canaan with his wife Sarah and his nephew Lot. One would think that everything would be easy for him, but famine struck the land and he had to go down to Mitzraim and suffer the kidnapping of his wife.
What I’m trying to say here is that Abraham’s life was not an easy life, he was tested many times throughout his life, but he understood that H”S was taking him somewhere.
He was outstanding in kindness to wayfarers. He took in people who were traveling and made great efforts to feed them and make them comfortable. He did this because he knew what it meant to be a stranger in a foreign place.
Whenever you suffer a kind of pain or sorrow, remember every aspect of this experience. This will help you build empathy towards others and help you find meaning and purpose in your own pain.
