“Yaakov gave them all blessings that he gave each one individually.”
From Parasha Vayechi, we learn a very important parenting tip.
A child needs to be taught according to his ways. Nobody is the same, so we can’t educate all our children using the same method and we can’t expect them to be the same.
Yaakov understood this truth way too well.
Before returning his soul to his Creator, Yaakov called each one of his sons and gave them a blessing, in these blessings he instructed them into their mission and purpose in this world.
He understood that each one of his children had special qualities that were unique to each one of them. He also pointed out to them in which things they were lacking or were being neglectful.
We too have our own individual and unique roles to fulfill in our Divine mission to make this world into G-d’s home.
At the end, we are all working for the same purpose. But we should never forget that each one of us has something special to give that only we can give.
When we teach our children this truth, they will grow up feeling empowered and good about themselves. Not needing to compare or compete with someone else realizing that they are one very important piece of this puzzle called life.
