Shavuah Tov!!! Wishing everyone a blessed week.
This week we read Parasha “Yitro.”
Why would the most important Parasha of the five Books of Moses, in which the Torah is given to the Jews at Mt.Sinai, be named after the Priest of Midian? Wouldn’t of it been more logical to name it “Mount Sinai,””Moses,” or even “Torah?”
Instead it’s named after Moshe Rabeinus father in law Yitro.
Yitro had tried every religion there existed, worshipped every idol there was, and so on. But when he heard everything that G-d had done for the Jewish people he decided to convert to Judaism.
The splitting of the Red Sea, the war against Amalek and Yitro’s conversion were all prerequisites to the giving of the Torah.
If a person like Yitro, who had worshipped so many gods was able to come to the conclusion that there is only One and only One G-d, so much more the Jewish people who lived miracle after miracle should have no doubt that the Torah is a G-d given gift to us and as such we should have immense gratitude and responsibility towards it.
