Today, January 27,2019, is Holocaust Remembrance Day and since there are no coincidences and we see the hand of G-d in everything, this week’s Parasha “Mishpatim” teaches us that if someone damaged another person, he must pay for the doctor bills, as the Torah states: “And he shall be healed.”(Shemot 21:19)
This Parasha is replete with laws concerning our responsibility regarding the welfare of others and how careful one must be to not inflict any harm physical, psychological or of any kind to someone else.
The holocaust is one of the biggest examples of human cruelty, from Mengele’s experiments with children, harsh and brutal labor camps, gas chambers, to name a few, the holocaust should be a reminder today and every day how people can be the worst when following an agenda disguised as a righteous agenda in which others take into their hands the lives of innocent people and make them suffer in the most inhuman ways.
Sadly today we are seeing the same trend as in the times of the pre holocaust, in which people disguised as righteous organizations promoting social justice diminish others, not to say the least: Israel, Antisemitism, BDS, Pro life, and so on.
The words of our Torah are eternal and the lessons taught too, because it is human nature to fall into this low state of being in which people forget their humanity and make others suffer for their twisted ideals. Let’s Never Forget and Always Remember.
