The Kabbalistic sense of this new month of Adar is “laughter.” Laughter is the best medicine and it has the power to turn all pain, misery, and difficulty of the past year into goodness and joy.
This transformation is alluded to one of G-d’s connotations: “The fear of Isaac,” which literally means “fear itself will laugh!” (Isaac means laughter)
This is the theme of the month of Purim, the holiday that we celebrate in Adar. On Purim we celebrate how all fears of Haman and his planned genocide of the Jewish people were overturned. The fear turned into laughter.
So next time you feel fear and uncertainty and you want to cry, instead laugh, laugh so hard that you will create an abundance of joy which will evaporate all fears and sadness.
By the way, it is a proven fact that laughter decreases stress hormones and increases immune cells and infection-fighting antibodies, thus improving your resistance to disease. Laughter triggers the release of endorphins, the body’s natural feel good chemicals giving you a sense of joy and well being.
So laugh, laugh, laugh till your tummy hurts.
