“Make a forehead plat …

“Make a forehead plate of pure gold, and engrave on it the same manner as a signer ring, the words ‘Holy to G-d.’ Attach a twist of sky blue wool to it, so that it can be worn right near the front of the turban.”(Shemot 28:36-7)
Every garment that the Kohen Gadol (High Priest) wore atoned for a different sin that the Children of Israel had committed. These very special garments had purpose and meaning.
The turban, which was worn on the top of the priest’s head, atoned for the sin of arrogance and conceit. Haughtiness is the root of all our problems. It creates a lot of pain and divisiveness. But there is a time and place for pride, and that is when a person is proud to do the will of G-d. As the verse in “Kasav Sofer” states: “When pride is holy to G-d then it can be on top of a person’s head.”
When you are proud of your Torah values, you will not be ashamed to fulfill the mitzvots, even if others make fun of you and ridicule and humiliate you.
Arrogance is a very bad trait, but if we use it for the right reason, which is to be proud of living up to who we really are, then we will be motivated to do good and continue rising and reaching higher spiritual dimensions without falling down.
