Welcome to “Battle Thursday’s,” today we continue gaining strategies on how to battle our Yetzer Hara (evil inclination).
A person who is not fighting his/her own evil inclination at his/her battle point -be it resisting even subtle evil or doing good beyond his comfort zone – does not understand the sinner, who fails his own inner temptation.
On chapter 30 of the Tanya, the Alter Rebbe tells us that anyone who has not attained this standard of waging such a strenuous war against his body, has not measured up to the quality and dimension of the war waged daily within against the evil nature which burns like a fiery flame, so that the powerful evil impulse be humbled and broken through the fear of G-d.
The way to wage this war is to “run away from evil and run to do good.”
When confronted with the opportunity to think, say, or do something evil run away from it, but the secret in being successful lies in running to do something good either in thought, speech or action.
If we make this our habit we will gain much strength in this never ending battle and with H”S help will be successful in eliminating the enemy.
